Nanjing Pukou Railway Station has been well-known for being depicted by Zhu Ziqing, an early 20th century writer. The century-old station is also the only one in China that keeps its Republic of China style intact. Recently, the restoration of the historic station has been launched by Southeast University after 9 months of field research.

Within the vicinity of the station, there are 1 national and 1 municipal key cultural relic along with 13 announced immovable cultural relics. In the first phase of the project, two restoration methods will be taken on 7 immovable relics and other constructions by the team led by Professor Zhou Qi from School of Architecture of Southeast University.

In the meantime, an integrated approach was adopted for the constructions that need to keep its historical look while gaining modern functions. It’s estimated that phase one of the project will be ready to go public this October.
