A teleconference was held on Wednesday on pairing assistance. Lou Qinjjan, Secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee and Wu Zhenglong, Governor of Jiangsu, issued instructions. Fan Jinlong, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Executive Vice Governor, attended the meeting and delivered a speech.
Lou Qinjian pointed out that in the past year, in accordance with the central government, the entire Jiangsu has done a good job in the prevention and control of COVID-19 pandemic and work of pairing assistance, lifting 102 poor counties out of poverty and helping nearly 4 million poor people. Jiangsu has made important contributions to the national decisive victory against poverty.
In the new stage of development, we must stick to the direction of common prosperity, uphold the standards of assistance and support, and deepen the cooperation in various fields, Lou said in the instruction.
We will further focus on the simultaneous development of the four modernizations, infrastructure development and improvement of people's livelihood. We will continue supporting remote areas in consolidating their achievements in poverty alleviation, helping people improve their living standards, and making new contributions to the overall development of China.
Wu Zhenglong pointed out in his instructions that entering the 14th Five-Year Plan period, we should constantly improve our political judgment, political understanding and keep in mind the "two overall situations."
We will strengthen planning and precise measures around the new development stage, new development philosophy and new development pattern, and effectively connect the achievements of poverty alleviation with rural revitalization. We will strive to write a new chapter in the work of cooperation between the eastern and western regions.
Fan Jinlong pointed out that we should focus on the great era of the times. We should grasp the characteristics of the transition period and clarify our work mechanism, closely follow the local "14th Five-Year Plan" and strengthen pairing assistance. We will work with higher standards and more concrete measures to help our counterparts, resolutely fulfill the political tasks assigned to us by the CPC Central Committee.
Representatives from each pairing-assistance team, Nanjing and Suzhou expressed their views in term of pairing assistance work.
