The city of Suzhou has pledged to make unremitting efforts to boost their growth momentum in 2021 as it kicked off its annual legislative session.
In the past five years, Suzhou’s GDP grown at an average annual rate of 6.1%, reaching a new height of 2 trillion yuan in 2020.
In the next five years, Suzhou will promote the integration and complementarities between advanced manufacturing and modern service industries, promote digital transformation and upgrading, build domestic and international cycles, and promote the "Jiangnan Culture" brand.
Efforts will be made to build a higher-level innovation city, an open city, a cultural city, an ecological city, a livable city, and a city of good governance, and build Suzhou into the "most beautiful window" of socialist modernization.
In 2020, Suzhou is expected to register an increase of about 6% year on year in its GDP while the growth rate of per capita disposable income of residents will be higher than the growth rate of GDP.
By the end of the 14th Five-Year Plan period, Suzhou will take the lead in building a strong and modern socialist city that fully demonstrates the new vision of "Strong, Prosperous, Beautiful, and High".
