East China’s Jiangsu province will promote inclusive elder care services through a joint mechanism of government support, social operation, reasonable pricing.

The 86-year-old Wang Jinlan was admitted into nursing home last month with access to an inclusive elderly care bed. With a reduction of 800 yuan for monthly payment, the granny only needs to pay 1700 yuan for a 48-square-meter double room.
According to the inclusive elderly care cooperation project, this nursing home has installed a total of 1,817 elderly care beds and more than 30% are subsidized by the inclusive elderly care project.
Inclusive elderly care beds are mainly installed in 48-square-meter standard rooms with complete supporting facilities, which can provide professional living and medical care for the elderly.
Persons with a household registration in Xuzhou, over 60 years of age, and who meet the relevant requirements are listed as inclusive elderly care recipients can submit their application with the local civil affairs bureau for inclusive elderly care beds.
Since its launch in February 2019, the central government has supported and guided the urban government system to plan and build an elderly care service system through investment within the central budget. The urban government provides policy support packages such as land, fiscal and taxation, and enterprises provide inclusive elderly service packages as agreed to benefit more senior citizens.
Since 2019, Jiangsu has received 273 million yuan from the central budget to support the construction of 39 inclusive elderly care projects in Wuxi, Xuzhou, Changzhou, Suzhou, and Nantong, stimulating social investment of nearly 4 billion yuan and enabling the construction of nearly 14 thousand elderly care beds for the expansion of the supply of inclusive elderly care services.
