Dushu Lake Hospital, the first Level-III non-profit, public hospital in SIP, partly came into operation rencently. It is expected to help greatly improve medical services and propel medical study in SIP.
The project was jointly initiated in 2013 by Soochow University, a Suzhou-based public university with several affiliated hospitals, and SIP authorities. It is planned to be built in two phases, with a total floor area of 500,000 square meters and 3,000 beds. The operationalized part boasts a total floor area of 131,000 square meters with 800 beds.
According to the hospital’s president Hou Jianquan, the hospital has 37 well-equipped operating rooms, 39 clinical departments, seven medical laboratories and two research organizations along with a top-notch medical team to provide the best-in-class services for diagnosis and treatment of various kinds of diseases.
At the opening ceremony, SIP Biomedicine Clinical Application Center and NCRCC (National Clinical Research Center for Cancer) YRD Sub-center were inaugurated to promote clinical application of biomedical research findings and facilitate development of therapies for cancer patients.
Moreover, six academicians and a number of experts with remarkable attainments in medical science received the letters of appointment from the hospital.
