East China’s Jiangsu province will be hit by snow and sleet in the next 12 hours as cold weather will hit central and eastern China in the coming days, bringing snow, rain and a drop in temperatures,
the National Meteorological Center forecast Monday. Jiangsu will see temperatures drop by 10 to 12 degrees Celsius from Tuesday to Thursday.
In order to cope with the freezing damage caused by low temperature weather to crops, regional governments have strengthened preventive measures to ensure that the crops and vegetables will not be affected.
In a seedling shed in Zouqu Town, Changzhou City, workers are adding an inner shed for vegetable seedlings to ensure the seedling survival rate.
The farm has also prepared electric heating equipment in advance. Once the temperature drops sharply, the staff will immediately lay electric heating wires on the surface to ensure proper temperature for the growth of crops by artificial heating.
Also in Zouqu Town, workers are busy harvesting the last batch of croissant melons this year.
With its planting temperature varying from 20 to 30 degrees Celsius, croissant melon is now served in winter, thanks to earth shed, the special greenhouse introduced in recent years.

Local agricultural and rural affairs departments have instructed farmers to reinforce greenhouses, get ready to clear snow, add windshields, increase surface temperature, and at the same time instruct farmers to spray growing agents to ensure that wheat will overspend the winter.
