On Dec. 24, a special art activity was held in the North District of Suzhou Municipal Hospital, where more than 10 painters and calligraphers of the China Association for Promoting Democracy (CAPD), such as Fei Zhixiong, Li Dapeng, Gong Yin, Xi Naian, Yang Lihua, and Zhang Zhong, created over 70 paintings and calligraphic works eulogizing frontline medical workers. They also wrote 60 pieces of the Chinese character “福” (Fu, meaning happiness, blessing and good fortune) for medical workers as Spring Festival gifts.
In 2008, the artists of the Suzhou unit of the CAPD started to write “Fu” characters and Spring Festival couplets in residential communities for local residents. Now the practice has developed into an annual social service activity of the CAPD Suzhou Municipal Committee and has been promoted to the whole country by the CAPD Central Committee.
