Governor Wu Zhenglong requested targeted measures to strengthen the prevention and control of the COVID-19 pandemic in autumn and winter during an inspection tour to the Provincial Health Commission on Friday.
Wu Zhenglong expressed his heartfelt thanks to everyone for their hard work and selfless dedication in the fight against the epidemic.
Noting that the province is faced with new situation and new challenges, he hoped everyone will further enhance their bottom line thinking and risk awareness, strengthen epidemic prevention and control work in autumn and winter, and continue to consolidate hard-won results in prevention and control.
When presiding over a symposium, Wu Zhenglong was briefed by the provincial departments on the preparation for the COVID-19 fight.
He emphasized that it is necessary to thoroughly study and implement General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important instructions and important speeches, come to be aware of the severity and complexity of the current situation of epidemic prevention and control and prioritize people’s life and health during the epidemic control so as to keep a tight control on the imported cases and rein in the resurgence of infected cases in the country.
The governor demanded more measures to strengthen border control, consolidate normalized monitoring and early warning, and strengthen nucleic acid testing and health code inspections.
The prevention and control of the epidemic should target medical institutions, schools, farmer’s markets, seafood markets, cinemas, shopping malls, supermarkets, elderly care institutions, mass transit vehicles and other heavily populated places, the governor said.
Wu Zhenglong hoped that the province will adhere to both the symptoms and the root causes, strengthen the construction of the public health system, refrain from formalism and bureaucracy, and strive to win the fight against the epidemic.
