East China’s Jiangsu province reported booming holiday consumption during the 8-day golden week holiday as the province reported approximately 12.62 billion yuan in retail sales, with an average daily sales growth of 10.7% year-on-year.

A large throng of movie-goers were seen queuing up at the Omnijoi International Cinema located in Litchi Square, Gulou District of Nanjing, on the last day of the week-long holiday.

In the run up to the holiday, China eased restrictions on theaters, allowing them to use 75 percent of the total number of seats. Previously, the limit was 50 percent.

Chinese theaters reopened on July 20 following months of closure due to COVID-19.

In such a holiday mixing the Mid-Autumn Festival and the National Day, I think it should be a very worthy day of reunion. I think it is a very meaningful thing for everyone to go out and watch a movie with the family.

The 2020 Zijin Culture and Art Festival launched nearly a hundred activities covering drama, film, music, dance and other categories, bringing a high-level cultural feast to the citizens.

Local dramas, musicals, children's dramas and other distinctive cultural dramas enriched the citizens’ holiday life.

On the evening of October 7th, an original children's drama "The Adventures of the Yellow Sea Forest" was staged under the sponsorship of the Jiangsu Broadcasting Corporation, the Yellow Sea National Forest Park and the Dongtai Rong Media Center. For the first time, the play recognizes the Yellow Sea Forest from the children’s perspective, bringing a refreshing audio-visual experience to parents and children alike.

Library and museum turned out to be as popular as they were in the past.

Supermarkets and shopping malls launched a variety of promotions to attract shoppers by taking advantage of the festive opportunities.

Kunshan Golden Eagle International Shopping Center reported average daily customer flow of 50,000, an increase of 12% over the same period last year, while its turnover increased by 30% year on year.

Many people chose to dine out during the holiday while frugality is advocated when ordering food.

A time-honored restaurant in Fuzimiao Scenic Area of Nanjing offered small dishes to the diners in a bid to encourage less waste.
