World Car Free Day celebrated in Jiangsu

East China’s Jiangsu province celebrated on Tuesday the annual edition of the World Car Free Day, which falls on September 22.

Against the cool breeze on the Hongze Lake embankment in early autumn, nearly a hundred environmental protection volunteers set off on their sharing bikes in a bid to get close to nature and breath fresh air to make everyone feel refreshed.

Qi Wendi, an environmental protection volunteer:"I think the event is particularly beneficial to the urban environment,so I think this event is very good and hope to have more opportunities to get involved in the future."

Ma Long, a cycling enthusiast in Nantong, started to experience cycling six months ago. This green and healthy sport has brought him many benefits.

Among the cycling teams in Nantong, there are elders and teenagers. The ride of about 25km is also an interpretation of healthy life.

In addition to cycling, runners in Hongze County celebrated car-free life with marathon running.

Wang Jianguo, marathon enthusiast:"Such a lifestyle is lower in carbon and more environmentally friendly,as it promotes a higher awareness of health and environmental protection."

The runners can freely choose half marathon or mini marathon according to their personal physical conditions.

Lianshui County has installed 500 shared bicycles in transportation hubs, important bus stations, supermarkets and other places to promote green travel. Bluetooth technology is used to regulate parking and promotes orderly cycling of bicycles.
