Wang Yongqing, vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, visited Jiangsu from September 15th to 18th to conduct special investigations on "Science and Technology Ethics and Legal Issues in the Development of Artificial Intelligence". Huang Lixin, chairwoman of the Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, was present during the investigation and participated in the symposium in Nanjing.
Wang Yongqing emphasized that we must earnestly implement the spirit of General Secretary Jinping’s important instructions, respect the development law of the new generation of artificial intelligence, grasp the extent of innovative development and risk management, make in-depth study of the joints of artificial intelligence technology and social attributes, think about the objective trend of artificial intelligence in the R&D and application stage of risks, and categorize and implement strategies for risk issues in innovation and development.
Efforts should be made to study the ethical and legal risks in the development of artificial intelligence innovation, conduct risk assessments, put forward preventive opinions, strengthen the education and training of R&D and application personnel, and create a good environment for the development of artificial intelligence, said the vice chairman.
Huang Lixin said that measures must be taken to accelerate technological innovation, focus on cultivating a group of leading enterprises, and enhance the international competitiveness of the development of the artificial intelligence industry.
She required efforts to strengthen basic research, build a clear-oriented, standardized, and coordinated scientific and technological ethics governance system, and promote the safe, reliable, and controllable development of artificial intelligence.
All-out efforts are needed to strengthen policy support, further improve the institutional framework covering technical standards, security applications, legal ethics, create a first-class ecology, and continuously improve public awareness of artificial intelligence, so that artificial intelligence can better serve a better life, the chairwoman said.
Vice Governor Chen Xingying briefed the symposium on the development of artificial intelligence in the province on behalf of the provincial government.
