The General Office of the Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee and the General Office of the Provincial Government recently issued the Implementation Opinions on Establishing and Improving the Natural Reserve System.
The "Opinions" clarified 21 key tasks in five aspects, including standardizing the construction and management of nature reserves and strengthening the supervision and evaluation of nature reserves.
By 2020, Jiangsu will complete the survey of the status quo of the boundaries of nature reserves, start the integration and optimization of nature reserves, and carry out the work of demarcating natural reserves with mature conditions.
By 2025, Jiangsu will complete the integration and optimization of the province’s nature reserves, mark the boundaries and establish the mark, complete the unified confirmation and registration of the natural resources of nature reserves in accordance with the national deployment, improve the management institutions of nature reserves, establish and improve basic policies and regulations, construction management, supervision and evaluation and other systems.
Nature reserves are divided into national parks, nature reserves and natural parks, according to the "Opinions".
Jiangsu will emphasize systematic protection by relying on world natural heritage, national nature reserves and scenic spots to develop the most valuable and important biodiversity areas into national parks and build 1-2 national parks by 2035, the "Opinions" said.
