Primary and secondary schools in east China’s Jiangsu province have ushered in the new semester for different grades of students with the opening dates to continue until Sept 7 in a staggered schedule amid intensive COVID-19 prevention and control measures on campus.

The students will be required to show their health code on their school card and their registration form announcing their whereabouts in the past 14 days.

All schools have cleaned and disinfected the classrooms and the teachers are required to return to Suzhou 15 days before the opening of the new semester.

Teachers and students who traveled in the "medium-high-risk areas" during the holidays are also required to undergo nucleic acid testing.

Schools across the province have given a thorough disinfection to the public areas such as school buildings, corridors, toilets, canteens.

Special inspections have been carried out on the safety of school canteens and the security of school buses.
