A chartered plane carrying over 100 Japanese passengers from Kansai International Airport, Japan, arrived in Sunan Shuofang International Airport yesterday afternoon (August 8).
Due to the international flight control policies adopted during the COVID-19 pandemic, China-bound flight tickets have sold out and only those scheduled for September or even later are available now in Japan. Given the circumstances, Changshu People's Government decided to apply for a chartered plane to facilitate their retuning to the city.
It’s worth mentioning here that the flight is the first one applied by domestic government for work resumption of local foreign-invested enterprises since the outbreak of COVID-19.
Changshu is known as the home to more than 100 Japanese companies such as Toyota, Mitsubishi Electric, etc. Changshu government paid visits to local Japanese companies this June and learned that their Japanese employees had faced challenges of returning.
In this connection, Changshu National New & High-tech Industrial Development Zone reported to higher authority and initiated application for plane charter starting June 19, 2020. As reported, 80 of the passengers returned are senior executives in Japanese companies in Changshu.
Gifts were placed on each seat of the dedicated transfer bus: a face mask, a folding fan, a box of snacks and a piece of wet wipe.
Japanese guests highly appreciated such satisfactory arrangements.
Suzhou Foreign Affairs Office well did its part to facilitate the returning of Japanese employees in a bid to create the business environment brand of “Supreme Service, Super Suzhou”. All Japanese employees returned will receive a 14-day quarantine and acid tests at designated places.
