Sustained progress has been made in pollution control in East China’s Jiangsu province in the first eight months of this year, the provincial department of ecology and environment said on Thursday.
In the eight-month period, Jiangsu reported overall improvement in ecological environment quality.
The average concentration of PM2.5 is 38 micrograms/m3, a year-on-year decrease of 19.1%.
The province witnessed a year-on-year increase of 14% in the number of days with good air quality in the six-month period, measuring up to the targets.
In August, Jiangsu is subjected to pressure from high temperatures, which has made it difficult for the diffusion and elimination of pollutants, aggravating the prevention and control of ozone.
In order to ensure the continuous reduction of ozone concentration in summer and the continuous improvement of air quality, the Provincial Department of Ecology and Environment has required prefecture-level cities to strictly implement ozone pollution prevention and control plans.
