According to Jiangsu Provincial Department of Transportation, Nantong-Suzhou-Jiaxing-Ningbo High-speed Railway (通苏嘉甬高铁) is to set up a station in the city proper of Suzhou. The new railway station will be built to the north of Suzhou North Railway Station (Beijing-Shanghai High-speed Railway).
Suzhou is aiming to combine the new station and Suzhou North Railway Station and develop them into a passenger transport hub system that features “different railways in a shared station”; that is to say, passengers will be able to access different railways from different platforms in the same railway station.

As a major part of China’s “eight vertical and eight horizontal” coastal railway network, Nantong-Suzhou-Jiaxing-Ningbo High-speed Railway runs from Nantong West Station (南通西站), passes Shanghai-Suzhou-Nantong Yangtze River Bridge (沪苏通长江大桥), Zhangjiagang City, Changshu City, the city proper of Suzhou, Wuzhong District, Wujiang District, and then reaches Jiaxing City, Zhejiang Province.
With a length of 332 kilometers, the railway promises to greatly reduce the time it takes to travel from north Jiangsu, middle Jiangsu and Suzhou-Wuxi-Changzhou Metropolitan Area to Hangzhou Metropolitan by trains.
Next, Suzhou will step up the preparatory work in a bid to start the construction of Nantong-Suzhou-Jiaxing-Ningbo High-speed Railway within this year.
