The hi-tech industry in east China’s Jiangsu province rebounded in the first half of this year due to the sustained progress in the prevention and control of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Suzhou Thery Pharmaceutical is preparing for a clinical trial of the latest oral peptide drug.

Being able to significantly reduce the blood sugar of diabetic patients, the drug will be more than half cheaper than imported drugs after it is launched.

With the launch of new drugs one by one, Thery Pharmaceutical is expected to post an annual growth of 40-50% in its business volume this year.

In recent years, Suzhou has promoted high-tech industries and made breakthroughs in the biomedical industry against the adversities of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Spearheaded by biomedicine, Jiangsu's high-tech industries showed demonstrated strong anti-risk capabilities during the COVID-19 pandemic.

From January to June, Jiangsu recorded a 10.5% year-on-year growth in the output value of the biomedicine industry while electronics and communication equipment, computers and office equipment, and new energy industries grew against the adversities under the impact of the pandemic.

The forward-looking emerging industries represented by artificial intelligence also show extraordinary growth potential.

Driven by the growing demand for "contactless" services, Nanjing Yunwen Technology's artificial intelligence semantic analysis technology ushered in explosive growth this year.

Up to now, it has provided "smart customer service" services for more than 60 thousand enterprises and government departments across the country, covering more than 60 fields such as government affairs, finance, and e-commerce.

Since the beginning of this year, Jiangsu has continued to promote tax cuts and fee reductions, and at the same time introduced 18 measures to stabilize enterprises, allocated 960 million yuan in advance to cultivate funds for high-tech enterprises, and provided policy support for more than 26 thousand high-tech small and medium-sized enterprises.

From January to June, the province's high-tech industry output value increased by 3.3% year-on-year, up 9.2 percentage points from the first quarter. The growth rate was 3.7 percentage points higher than that of the industry, accounting for 47.07% of the industrial output value above designated size.
