China-Japan Regional Development Cooperation Demonstration Zone was inaugurated Sunday in Xiangcheng District, Suzhou City. Lan Shaomin, member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Secretary of the Suzhou Municipal Party Committee, attended the ceremony. He was joined by Hui Jianlin, vice governor of Jiangsu.
As one of the six China-Japan regional development cooperation demonstration zones in the country, the demonstration zone in Suzhou covers the whole area of Xiangcheng District. Construction on the 38.5-square-kilometers central area has got underway.
The demonstration zone will give full play Suzhou's advanced and complete manufacturing system and continue to build a domestically advanced platform for cooperation with Japan by taking advantage of Xiangcheng's unique location and transportation and industrial strength.
228 investment projects broke ground at the ceremony. They will bring Suzhou 91.42 billion yuan of investment in total.
