Lou Qinjian, secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee, called for greater efforts to unite more closely around the Party Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at the core and unswervingly follow the path of political development of socialism with Chinese characteristics. He made the remark when presiding over the group deliberation of NPC deputies from Jiangsu province on Tuesday.
Lou said the work report of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress is guided by the Xi Jinping Thought on socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era and maintain the organic unity of upholding the leadership of the Party, the people being the masters of the country, and governing the country according to the rule of law.
Since last year, the National People’s Congress and its Standing Committee have performed their duties in accordance with the law, as is evidenced by the new progress and new results in all aspects of work to ensure the full implementation of the Constitution and safeguard the constitutional authority, effectively safeguarding the unity, dignity and authority of the national legal system, said Lou Qinjian.
The CPC provincial chief added that the National People’s Congress and its Standing Committee have implemented high-quality legislation and supervision since last year to have ensured the implementation of major reform and development tasks, safeguarded the interests of the people, and mobilized the enthusiasm and initiative of NPC deputies to participate in the country’s political affairs.
Lou Qinjian noted that in the past year, under the strong guidance of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, the Jiangsu Provincial People’s Congress performed its duties according to law, carried out legislative amendments Correct and made effective supervision with a clear-cut implementation of the Party Central Committee's policies, decisions and plans as well as those requirements by the Provincial Party Committee to have made remarkable progresses in various aspects.
Noting that Jiangsu is faced with uncertainties in its social and economic development this year with arduous development tasks, Lou Qinjian urged regional legislatures in the province to follow the Xi Jinping Thought on socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era, safeguard the authority of the CPC Central Committee and the centralized and unified leadership the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at the core from the political height of strengthening the four consciousnesses and the four self-confidences so as to shoulder up the responsibilities in the promotion of the province’s high quality development.
He also demanded more efforts to give full play to the role of regional people's congresses in the modernization of the national governance system and governance capabilities, and safeguard the authority of the CPC Central Committee and the centralized and unified leadership the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at the core in the process of performing duties according to law in all aspects.
