NPC deputies from Jiangsu province started to deliberate the country’s draft civil code that has been submitted to the annual legislative session for deliberation and approval.
Noting that the civil law is the basic law of a society, the NPC deputies from Jiangsu said that the compilation of the civil code is crucial to the systematization of the Chinese civil laws and will greatly promote the rule of law in China.
On the basis of systematically summarizing the achievements of the system construction and practical experience, the draft civil code highlights Chinese characteristics, reflects the characteristics of the times, and the wishes of the people, said the lawmakers, adding that the continuous development of the cause can also contribute Chinese wisdom and Chinese programs to the development and progress of humanity's rule of law civilization.
Che Jie, Yang Hengjun, Li Wei and some other NPC deputies remarked that the civil code is of landmark significance as it has created a precedent for the legislation of our country’s codification.
The lawmakers noted that the draft civil code adheres to the correct political direction, implements General Secretary Xi Jinping ’s new concept, new ideas and new strategy of comprehensively governing the country according to law, resolutely implements the decisions, plans and policies the CPC Central Committee, persists in serving the overall situation of the Party and the country ’s work by following the people-centered legislative concept and meeting the practical needs of perfecting the socialist system with Chinese characteristics.
Zhu Jing, Zhu Xiaokun, Zhou Shanhong and other NPC deputies from Jiangsu said that the draft civil code is compiled on the basis of China's national conditions and reality by comprehensively summarizing the civil legislation and practical experience of the reform and opening up for more than 40 years in a bid to improve the relevance, effectiveness and adaptability of the civil legal system, and give full play to the leading, standardizing and guaranteeing role of the rule of law.
It will play a positive role in promoting a comprehensive rule of law in China, as well as modernizing the country's governance system and capacity, they added.
The civil code will be of great significance for better safeguarding the rights and interests of the people, continuously increasing the people's sense of gain, happiness, and security, and promoting people's overall development, the NPC deputies said.
