Lou Qinjian, secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee, participated in the country’s voluntary tree planting day event Thursday morning in Nanjing. He was joined by Wu Zhenglong, governor of Jiangsu, Huang Lixin, chairwoman of the provincial CPPCC and other provincial leaders.
The high-level provincial leaders arrived at the wetland park near the Third Yangtze River Bridge in a sign of building a green and eco-friendly homeland.

The Third Yangtze River Bridge Wetland Park on the east bank of the Yangtze River is one of the afforestation and greening projects on both sides of the Yangtze River in Nanjing. It is designed to improve the ecological environment and living environment by adhering to the construction of green land, woodland and wetland together to create a river beach landscape environment that displays ecological beauty.
Lou Qinjian, Wu Zhenglong and other leaders arrived at the park at 9:53.
Before starting to plant trees, they were briefed on the restoration of the landscape around the park and the efforts Nanjing have made in the promotion of ecological improvement and relocation of chemical plants along the Yangtze River.
Everyone picked up the shovel and walked to the slope where they shoveled the soil into the pit in twos and threes and planted beech tree, osmanthus, begonia, camellia and other tree samplings.
Lou Qinjian urged Nanjing to coordinate the protection of the Yangtze River shoreline and wetland ecology through scientific planning, meet the people's desire for a better life, strengthen urban greening, and build a green space where people and nature live in harmony.
Lou Qinjian emphasized that the Xi Jinping Thought on ecological civilization provides important guidelines for us to promote ecological governance, pollution prevention, and environmental protection.
He demanded that all government departments in the province should consciously implement the development concept of lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable asset, resolutely implement the responsibility of ecological environment protection, coordinate the comprehensive management of landscapes, forests and lakes, and constantly promote the construction of ecological civilization in Jiangsu to a new height so as to further demonstrate the "most beautiful value" of Jiangsu's development with more natural greeneries.
The national tree planting day falls on March 12. This year’s event is postponed due to the prevention and control of the COVID-19.
