Cyberspace has played an important role in the prevention and control of the novel coronavirus epidemic and the resumption of work and production, said Lou Qinjian, secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee, at a conference held Friday in Nanjing.
The CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee held the second meeting of the cyber security and cyber space administration conference to study General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speech on cyber security and hear briefings on the work of cyber space administration across the province.
Since last year, Jiangsu has made outstanding achievements in cyber security and played an important role in the prevention and control of the novel coronavirus epidemic and the resumption of work and production, according to a statement released after the meeting.
This year marks the year of transition for the realization of the two centenary goals, the end of the 13th five-year plan period and the beginning of the 14th five-year plan period, making it important to give full play to cyber space administration in line with the opportunities of important strategic development and the changing trends of the international and domestic affairs, the statement said.
Efforts must be made to strengthen the construction and management of cyber space, promote the healthy, prosperous, and orderly development of cyber ecology, fortify the cyber security barriers, adhere to systematic thinking, and take multi-pronged approaches so as to make the cyber world better serve the people, according to the statement.
At present, the development of the information industry is facing rare opportunities as information technology is still the most dynamic technology, and the information industry is still the most driving industry for the economy, the statement said.
Efforts should be made to cash in on the new wave of investment in new infrastructure represented by 5G, artificial intelligence, industrial Internet, and the Internet of Things so as to highlight the pioneering and pillar nature of the information industry, and hedge against the downward pressure on the economy with new growth points, said the statement.
It is urged that Jiangsu should spare no effort to deepen the reform of the Internet management leadership system, improve the system and mechanism of cyber space and information, gather more outstanding professionals, and speed up the improvement of the ability of cyber security, according to the statement.
China has made significant progress in emerging fields such as industrial internet security, 5G security, blockchain and artificial intelligence.
Up to now, China has 23 listed security enterprises, more than 100 investment institutions and about 150 innovative enterprises in the field of cybersecurity.
