Lou Qinjian, secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee, went on an inspection tour in Yancheng City from Tuesday to Wednesday to learn about the management of last year’s deadly chemical plant blast, the promotion of epidemic control and the progress of resumption of work.
Lou Qinjian was particularly attentive to the handling of the aftermath of the deadly chemical plant explosion that happened in March 21, last year, at Xiangshui County.
The deadly chemical plant blast in eastern China's Jiangsu Province on March 21 last year was identified as an extremely severe production safety accident caused by prolonged illegal custody of hazardous chemical waste, a State Council investigation group said in November last year.
Lou Qinjian said that the "March 21" explosion had a large impact on the environment, making it complicated for subsequent treatment.
He asked local authorities to make more efforts and take scientific measures to ensure that no secondary pollution occurs.
Lou also demanded that measures be taken to help the farmers affected by the explosion to increase income through a variety of ways.
The CPC Provincial chief made detailed understanding of the city’s efforts to phase out polluting enterprises and outdated productioncapacity.
He inspected Jiangsu Yueyang Photovoltaic Technology Co., Ltd. and Dongshan东山 Precision Industrial Park where the enterprises have maintained normal operation by benefiting from the local government’s assistance.
Lou Qinjian also visited several rural resettlement communities in Jianhu County, Yandu District and Xiangshui County to learn about the restoration of agricultural production and the improvement of farmers' housing conditions, as well as the relocation costs, public service facilities, and the age structure of villagers.
When presiding over a symposium, Lou spoke highly of the achievements Yancheng has made in the past year, in particular in the strengthening of epidemic control and promotion of resumption of work and production.
He asked the local government curb cases of novel coronavirus pneumonia being imported from overseas as the epidemic continues to worsen internationally.
The CPC Provincial chiefasked Yancheng to intensify its efforts to improve intrinsic safety, accelerate the modernization of the safety production governance system and governance capabilities, follow the rules of industrial development and production safety, and strengthen risk prevention and control, supervision and enforcement, and comprehensive governance so as to reduce and eliminate risks from the source.
