The Yancheng Power Supply Company of State Grid Corp of China has issued a phased policy to reduce electricity costs in order to alleviate the pressure on the enterprises’ operations and help enterprises resume work and production.

Yancheng Power Supply Company has begun to implement the preferential policies of the State Grid. It is estimated that by the end of June, the total reduction on electricity bill for qualified users will reach nearly 300 million yuan, benefiting nearly 500,000 industrial and commercial users.

The National Development and Reform Commission, China's top economic planner, said last month that the electricity price of enterprise users except those in high energy consuming sectors will be cut by 5 percent from Feb. 1 to June 30.

The price reduction policy can benefit about 50 million users, accounting for about three quarters of all industrial and commercial users, the National Development and Reform Commission said.

It will cut the electricity consumption cost of enterprises by about 44 billion yuan from February to June.

The supportive two-part tariff will be implemented in the same period and is expected to save about 15 billion yuan for enterprises in electricity costs.

Meanwhile, the off-season natural gas price policy will be implemented in advance.

The off-season price policy usually will be implemented from mid-March to mid-November. This time, the off-season natural gas price policy will be implemented in advance and more price concessions will be given before the end of June, according to the economic planner.

In the meantime, the State Grid Corp of China has been shoring up efforts to ensure power security for the national fight against the novel coronavirus outbreak.

The power supplier for more than 1.1 billion people in China has vowed to continuously advance the construction of power supply facilities at 17 hospitals in Hubei province, the epicenter of the outbreak, while further solving power-related issues at 114 designated medical institutions and 554 fever clinics in the province.

It has also vowed to further restore the full-scale construction of key projects underway across the country to ensure that companies can resume operations.

According to the corporation, it would enhance efforts to guarantee the power use of hotels accommodating medical workers, as well as key enterprises researching and developing medicines and those producing, purchasing and selling medical equipment.

It also aims to ensure civilian power supplies, promising not to cut off electricity supply to households due to arrears during the outbreak.

Preferential measures have also been introduced to ensure electricity supply to medical institutions, medical facilities, government agencies and protective gear production enterprises.
