East China’s Jiangsu province will install 547 high standard farmland projects in 2020, the provincial department of agriculture and rural affairs said on Monday.
The 547 high standard farmland projects will come in 3.6 million mu of growing areas and 410 thousand mu of high efficiency irrigation areas.
More than 6 billion yuan will be earmarked for the completion of the task.
In the meantime, 495 on-going high standard farmland projects have resumed work across the province and will be launched into operation when paddy rice seedlings are transplanted.
According to preliminary estimates, land rents in high-standard farmland areas will increase by about 100 yuan per mu and increase grains by about 50 kg.
Implementing new agricultural technologies such as high-efficiency water-saving irrigation and water-fertilizer integration will reduce operating costs by approximately 150 yuan per mu.
In the meantime, Jiangsu will also build various "Internet +”, cloud technology and big data platforms to improve the intelligent level of agricultural production operations and services.
In 2020, Jiangsu is expected to connect 20% of the farm land to the agricultural Internet of Things and digitalize 65% of its agricultural production.
