Like many of us, the first thing that Ali Qadir, an international student from Pakistan, would do in the past month is to check the latest developments of the COVID-19 epidemic in China. Living in Nanjing for six years, he has developed a special feeling for the city. Since the outbreak of the COVID-19, Ali Qadir has recorded the changes with his camera, presenting to his family and friends at home and abroad with a Nanjing that is gradually coming back to life.

Ali Qadir went outside on Feb. 11 and Feb. 26. The first time was amid the COVID-19 outbreak. Few people and vehicles could be seen on the streets since people are advised to stay home. Two weeks later, more people and vehicles could be seen according to Ali Qadir's video.

Ali Qadir is also the founder of FCTA (From Compassion to Action). This volunteer team is a non-profit organization made up of more than 500 international students in Jiangsu. During the epidemic, Ali Qadir calls on his members to do more volunteer work to help fight the virus and to use social media to spread authentic information of COVID-19.

By the end of 2018, Nanjing had more than 20,000 foreign residents, most of whom are college students. Although they are not born in China, students like Ali Qadir have already integrated with the communities and the cities they live in. They are also making their own contribution for the prevention and control of the epidemic.

"I want to show my respect to all the doctors, nurses and heroes who are fighting in the front-line against the COVID-19," said Ali Qadir. "The changes in the past weeks are great fortune for all of us. We are happy that how the government has worked hard to bring everything back to normal."
