Suzhou initiates “Online Investment Invitation&Contract Signing”

To strengthen the efforts in epidemic prevention and control and in the meanwhile ensure the introduction of major projects, Suzhou has initiated a new mode of “Online Investment Invitation+Contract Signing” to make sure both sides of the negotiation are not meeting, the projects not postponed and services of government not suspended.

01 Xiangcheng District (Suzhou) has signed a contract with a Japanese enterprise “between screens” to establish its China headquarters.

On February 14, 2020, Moriyama Megumu, Executive Director of Itoki Japan and Chairman of Itoki China, announced that Itoki Japan has contracted with Xiangcheng District and its China headquarters will be established in Xiangcheng Cooperative Economic Development Zone. Moriyama Megumu also gave his encouragement to China’s battle against COVID-19.

At present, Itoki has expedited its preparations for relevant procedures and the registration of its China headquarters has been put on agenda. Itoki (China) Investment Co., Ltd, the China headquarters, is expected to be established on July, 2020.

Itoki is one of Japan's four largest office furniture companies. The registered capital of its China headquarters totals 20 million U.S. dollars, which is wholly-owned by Itoki Japan and will manage other 8 subsidiaries in China. In the future, Itoki (China) Investment Co., Ltd. will also serve as the Group's strategic center, financial center, supply chain center, research and development center, and marketing center in China. The China headquarters is expected to have an annual turnover of 500 million yuan in 2023 and 1 billion yuan in 2025 after establishment.

Recently, Xiangcheng District has developed an online mini program in 3 languages (Chinese, English and Japanese) to attract investment both at home and abroad.

02 Changshu city has completed the introduction of an Australian project online.

On February 18, 2020, Australian Reforming Clothing Co. and Suzhou Farpull Electronic Technology Co., Ltd have respectively contracted with Changshu Yushan New & Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone (CYNZ) to set up new factories there.  Considering the epidemic condition, CYNZ decided to sign the contract with Reform Clothing through online video meeting.

Reform Clothing, headquartered in Melbourne, Australia, focuses on customized clothing business and occupies a leading position in high-end custom market of Australian secondary schools, with a market share of over 50 percent. Reform Clothing plans to set up a smart custom clothing factory in CYNZ.

03 Wuzhong District contracted with 360 Group through mails.

On February 13, 2020, Investment Promotion Bureau of Suzhou Wuzhong Economic Development Zone complete the introduction of a major project by contracting with 360 Group through mails. The investment of the project totals 260 million yuan and annual turnover is expected to reach 1 billion yuan in 2023.

In addition, Wuzhong District also assisted a biomedical project listed in Hong Kong Stocks to select a location through online platforms such as “Infographic Guide to Investment in Suzhou”.

During the epidemic period, officials of Investment Promotion Bureaus in Suzhou has negotiated with investors through WeChat, phone calls, mails and video meetings. Such an efficient and pragmatically-inclined “online investment promotion” has reached investors with sincerity and reassured enterprises of various types.
