Provincial leaders Lou Qinjian, Wu Zhenglong and Huang Lixin gathered together Wednesday morning with more than 1,000 people from all walks of life to welcome the Spring Festival and convey the best wishes to the people of the province at the annual Spring Festival Reception held at the Nanjing International Exposition Center.
Lou Qinjian, secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, said that another spring is around the corner. Whenever this time comes, we will remember General Secretary Xi Jinping’s inspection tour to Jiangsu, as if the wind of spring blows the sky and the earth, making us feel great happiness and warmth.
He noted that in the past five years, we have kept in mind the General Secretary's instructions, keep low profile and take pragmatic approaches, rolled up our sleeves and worked hard, promoted the high-quality development of Jiangsu, stepped onto a new step of building a comprehensively well-off society at a high level and embarked on a new journey of achieving basical modernization.
Lou Qinjian recalled the efforts and performances throughout the province over the past year. He said that under the strong leadership of the Party Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping as the core, we adhered to the general tone of making steady progress while maintaining stability, made progress in the three tough battles of preventing and defusing financial risks, targeted poverty alleviation and pollution control, optimized industrial structures and adapted to the changes, as is evidenced by the province's economic aggregate that is close to 10 trillion yuan and the significant improvement in the quality and efficiency of development.
According to Lou, ecological protection and governance have been intensified unprecedentedly. The ecological environment has accelerated from a partial improvement to an overall improvement. The per capita income of the people has exceeded 40,000 yuan. 1.99 million low-income people have been lifted out of poverty. More than 100,000 farmers in northern Jiangsu have moved into new residential quarters. Five prefecture-level cities in northern Jiangsu have ushered in the high-speed rail.

Jiangsu is now standing at the meeting point of the two centenary goals and an important time for the construction of a new Jiangsu. At this time we share the achievements with the people of the province, and we thank everyone who has contributed to this. The people are the primary force for development. We are all from the people, for the people, and credited to the people. We must not forget the ordinary laborers at any time.
Lou Qinjian said that under difficult circumstances, enterprises in Jiangsu have provided sufficient employment and created continuous taxation. We must continue to provide high-quality services to the enterprises, regardless of whether they are state-owned, private or foreign-owned.
Talents and technology are the fundamental support for Jiangsu's high-quality development, the CPC Provincial chief said, adding that we sincerely thank academicians, experts and specialists and hope that Jiangsu will have more innovative talents, innovative enterprises, leading talents, and academicians.
The development of Jiangsu benefits from opening up, and we are willing to share more development opportunities with foreign-invested companies, said Lou.
