East China’s Jiangsu province has halved the total customs clearance time taken for imports and exports two years ahead of schedule, the Nanjing Customs said on Sunday.
The Nanjing Customs is stepping up efforts to facilitate international trade in a bid to strengthen business growth.
Single-window customs clearance is now in place, allowing companies to declare cargo and taxes with a single submission on a web-based platform for free, improving efficiency and reducing costs.
Clearance documents subject to verification at ports have been reduced from 86 to 44 with 40 of them to be checked through the network system.
In December 2019, it only took 48.1 hours for imports, saving 18 minutes, and 3.63 hours for exports, down by over half an hour when compared with 2017, estimated the Nanjing Customs.
The General Administration of Customs aims to cut average clearance times in half by the end of 2021, and implement more measures for speedier imports and exports, the General Administration of Customs said in December 2018.
