Wu Zhenglong, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Governor of Jiangsu, joined in a panel discussion Thursday afternoon with deputies from Nantong.
The deputies to the provincial people’s congress noted that the government work report is inspiring and encouraging.
Wu Zhenglong said that though faced with risks and challenges in its economic and social development last year, China is still in a period of important strategic opportunities with great promise with the basic trend of stable economic growth and long-term improvement remaining unchanged.
The strategic opportunities such as the integration of the Yangtze River Delta, and the Jiangsu Free Trade Pilot Zone have provided us with path guidance and major opportunities and the policies and measures such as larger-scale tax and fee reductions have provided us with strong support to cope with the economic downturns, the governor said.
The Governor spoke highly of the high quality achievements made by Nantong in the past year, hoping that Nantong will persist in arming the mind, guiding practice, and promoting work with the Xi Jinping Thought on socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era, inherit the genes of the national industry and commerce, keep the spirit of daring to venture and seize opportunities, give play to its advantages, and strive to be a pioneer of the high-quality development in the new era.
He hoped that Nantong will implement the Outline of the Integrated Development Plan for the Yangtze River Delta, seize the increasingly favorable conditions of a modern integrated transportation system, dock with Shanghai in all aspects and strive to become an important fulcrum for the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta.
The Governor also hoped that Nantong will unswervingly adjust the industrial structure, continue to promote project-driven industrial development, take greater steps in the transformation and upgrading, make every effort to improve the industrial basic ability and the modernization level of the industrial chain, and strive to become the most important growth pole in the promotion of the province’s high-quality development.
