A New Year concert was held at the Hengtang Cultural and Sports Center in the Shishan Business and Innovation Zone in Suzhou New District (SND), East China's Jiangsu province, on Dec 27.
The concert, performed by a number of young musicians from famous domestic and international universities, treated audiences to many international classics, including Por Una Cabeza, a popular Argentine tango, and classic patriotic songs such as Me and My Motherland.
Shishan Hengtang Subdistrict Community, one of the oldest central urban areas in SND, enjoys a solid industrial foundation and is now home to more than 14,000 Chinese enterprises. The community also has a sound business climate and an open economy, and foreign enterprises account for more than 40 percent of all enterprises in the community.
This year, the community has been making efforts to improve administrative efficiency and cut taxes and fees in order to create a better environment for private and foreign businesses. A wide range of measures have been taken to alleviate financial burdens on enterprises, generating more than 1 billion ($143.25 million) yuan in benefits for firms.
The Shishan Business and Innovation Zone, which is currently under construction, will prioritize the development of finance and insurance, intelligent manufacturing, technology and product services, new energy resources, an intelligent safety system, and intelligent healthcare in an effort to create a complete industrial chain featuring high-end technology and services.
