50 businesspersons from the non-public sectors of Jiangsu province were awarded the title of "outstanding builders of socialism with Chinese characteristics" Thursday at an award-giving conference held in Nanjing on Monday.
A speech by Lou Qinjian, secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee was studied at the conference.
Lou Qinjian pointed out that in the new stage of development, the province's various regions and departments must strive to build a market environment for fair competition, a precise and effective policy environment, an environment of rule of law protected by equality, and create good conditions for a harmonious business environment.
He hoped that the businesspersons from the non-public sectors will hold up the great banner of the Xi Jinping Thought on socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era, carry forward the spirit of outstanding builders, strengthen development confidence, implement new development concepts, focus on real economy and make efforts to accelerate the construction of a "strong, prosperous, beautiful and high-level new Jiangsu.
Yang Yue, member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Director of the United Front Work Department, addressed the conference. He pointed out that the high-quality development of Jiangsu cannot be separated from the strong support of the private economy. The active practice of economic people and strengthening the party's leadership cannot be separated from the conscious actions of the businesspersons from the non-public sectors.
Present at the ceremony were Xu Zhongzhi, vice chairman of the provincial people’s congress and president of the provincial federation of industry and commerce, Ma Qiulin, vice governor of Jiangsu, and Yan Li, vice chairman of the provincial CPPC.

The title winners were encouraged to be models of patriotism, professional excellence, law-abiding business, innovation and entrepreneurship, and social responsibility.
The non-public sector's status and functions in the country's economic and social development have not changed, as is the principle and policies to unswervingly encourage, support and guide the development of the non-public secto, and the principle and policies to provide a sound environment and more opportunities to the sector, said General Secretary Xi Jinping on November 1, 2018 at a symposium with private entrepreneurs.
