The political advisory body of east China’s Jiangsu province held a New Year celebration tea party on Monday. Lou Qinjian, secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee, addressed the party. Present at the party were Wu Zhenglong, governor of Jiangsu, Huang Lixin, chairwoman of the provincial CPPCC, and Ren Zhenhe, deputy secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee.
Lou Qinjian extended his sincere greetings on behalf of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee and the Provincial Government and wished everyone a happy New Year.
He pointed out that in 2019, under the strong leadership of the Party Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping as the core, Jiangsu has achieved extraordinary performances in various undertakings.
Lou noted that Jiangsu has withstood the impact from the changes in the international economic and trade pattern and the economic downturn, and the pains of transformation and upgrading, enabling the province’s economy to achieve steady growth on a high base.
The CPC Provincial chief stressed that we are now standing at a special historical period featuring the intersection of the strategic overall situation of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and the great changes in the world that have not been seen in a century as well as the meeting point between the construction of a well-off society in an all-round way and the embark on a new journey of modernization.
Lou Qinjian emphasized that Jiangsu must resolutely implement the Xi Jinping Thought on socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era from the political height of strengthening the four consciousnesses and the four self-confidences, safeguarding the authority of the CPC Central Committee and getting united around the centralized and unified leadership the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping as the core so as to make great strides forward in the direction guided by the Party Central Committee.
He urged the province to follow the new development concept, deepen the adjustment of industrial structure with strategic resolve, focus on building an independent and controllable modern industrial system, integrate into the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta, and accelerate the construction of the "Belt and Road".
Greater efforts must be made to promote the modernization of provincial governance, so that advanced productive forces are fully released in high-quality development, social vitality is fully erupted in high-efficiency governance, and all-round human development is fully reflected in high-quality life, said Lou Qinjian.
Huang Lixin, chairwoman of the provincial CPPCC, presided over the tea party.
Hu Gang, vice chairman of the provincial CPPCC and head of the provincial Democratic League, spoke on behalf of all the non-communist parties, federation of industry and commerce and non-party personages.
