A candlelight vigil was held Friday in Nanjing to pay tribute to the 300,000 Nanjing Massacre victims as the country held its 6th state memorial ceremony for the National Memorial Day for Nanjing Massacre Victims.

Fred Arment, executive director of International Cities of Peace, was joined by the descendants of the massacre victims, staff of the memorial museum, students from Nanjing and peace activists from Japan as well as families and descendants of the international figures who helped Nanjing people in the Massacre.

Li Zhenming, descendant of a massacre victim, read aloud a letter to his father who was killed by the Japanese soldiers 82 years ago.

Megan Brady, great granddaughter of Richard Brady, a surgeon of the Drum Tower Hospital during the Nanjing Massacre, impressed the participants with a song she composed and sang on her own.

The site was lit up by electric candles on the ground of the meditation hall and the outdoor area where the main ceremony took place.
