The first stop is Dayangwan Wetland Park where the group learned the efforts of Yancheng to preserve wetland, also known as the kidney of the earth. On the 43rd session of the World Heritage Committee held in Azerbaijan this year, Yancheng’s Yellow Sea Wetland was listed among the World Heritage List, the first world natural heritage site in Jiangsu.
One of the highlights of the trip is definitely the close touch with the wild animals that are born and bred in Yancheng’s vast wetland. Milu deer, once an endangered animal in the world, is now flourishing in Yancheng. According to one of the staff of the Chinese Milu Deer Park, there are 5016 Milu deer, including 1350 wild ones. It is the largest Milu deer population on earth.
The group also went to Dongtai City, where they visited Tiaozini Wetland, an important location for migratory birds from East Asia to Australia. The last stop of the trip is Yellow Sea Forest Park, a national base for forest conservation. Over 600 kinds of trees are found in the park.
