The first Yangtze River Delta Homestay Cultural Tourism Festival kicked off in Wuxi's Nianhua Bay tourist resort on Nov 26.
During the event, representatives from 12 homestays introduced their rooms, cultural products, and other specialties. Five representatives from Wuxi, Nanjing, and Zhejiang province also talked about the industrial development of homestays and rural tourism during a roundtable meeting.
During the event, three recommended homestay tour routes in the Yangtze River Delta and 10 high-quality homestays in Wuxi were introduced to participants.
Organizers also announced a short video competition for works themed around homestays in Wuxi. The winner will receive a prize of 15,000 yuan ($2,136).

Many of the event's participants visited several homestays in Wuxi's Xishan district, Huishan district, Binhu district, and Yixing the day before the event. They talked with the owners and inspected the rooms, the environment, transportation convenience, and supporting facilities, which are what tourists paid the most attention to when choosing homestays.
