East China’s Jiangsu province has met the livelihood project targets ahead of schedule, sources with the provincial government said on Thursday.
Jiangsu has increased its per capita provincial basic public health service subsidy standards by 10 yuan over the previous year. 13 prefecture-level cities have cut back on the minimum premium payment by 50% for critical illness insurance for people with difficulties while the reimbursement ratio has increased by 5-10 percentage points.
Jiangsu has started construction and reconstruction on 455 kindergartens with 234 of them completed. It started construction and reconstruction on 472 compulsory education schools with 203 completed. 68 ordinary high schools have started construction or reconstruction with 21 of them completed.
At the beginning of the year, Jiangsu set forth the target of building 25,000 new beds for elders at nursery homes and providing free medical checkup for 6 million seniors over 65 years old. With the year end drawing near, Jiangsu has increased 26100 new beds for nursery homes and offered free medical checkup for 6.7 million seniors over 65 years old.
In the meantime, Jiangsu has made headway in the relocation of rural households into resettlement quarters by launching 849 projects, a gain of 229 over the prescribed targets. Construction on 768 projects has started, well ahead of the schedule.
