The Mexico-Nantong Economic and Trade Conference was held in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, on Nov 11.
At the conference, the Nantong branch of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (NTCCPIT) signed a cooperation memorandum with the China Chamber of Commerce and Technology in Mexico to promote bilateral trade and investment.
Mexico has been an important trade partner for Nantong for many years, importing textile products and raw materials for textiles, machinery, and chemical products from the city and exporting plastic and rubber products, electric machines and parts, and fruit.

Of this, exports from Nantong accounted for 1.81 billion yuan, a 35.82 percent increase, while imports accounted for 182 million yuan, a 151.22 percent increase.
Officials said the city's commerce bureau and the NTCCPIT plan to strengthen the city's partnership with Mexico by sending business representatives to the China (Mexico) Trade Expo and inviting Mexican companies to visit Nantong and start businesses in the city.
