Zhenjiang City Library has built over 40 sub-libraries in different themes in recent years to better meet diversified needs of readers.

The Shiyezhou library caters to the left-behind children whose parents work in the cities. The Picture Book Story Park will focus on young readers and the Senior Cadres Activity Center branch will mainly serve the aged book-lovers. There are also some sub-libraries that would mainly serve sanitation workers in the city and shutterbugs

Shanghe Study, Zhenjiang's first 24-hour bookstore, is a new-style reading space co-built by the Zhenjiang City Library and Zhenjiang City Construction Industry Group. The library, which started operation in July 2018, covers a floor area of 250 square meters. It has more than 5,000 books on Humanities and Social Sciences and can accommodate more than 50 readers at the same time.

The library has also brought in new technology to support readers to get reading cards, borrowing and returning books by themselves. It has also set up a zone for the visually impaired with easy access and special reading equipment available. Up to now, over 55,000 visits have been made to the library.
