Nanjing will start the selection of the 6th annual Parasol Tree Award for public diplomacy on Friday, according to the press briefing sponsored by Nanjing Public Diplomacy Association(NPDA). Multiple awards in 5 categories will be awarded to foreigners who have made outstanding contributions to public diplomacy in Nanjing.
Representatives from NPDA elaborated on the development of the association during the past seven years and the importance of public diplomacy. Details of the 2019 Parasol Tree Award including the selection scope, award setting, selection criteria and the time limits of the Award were mainly introduced at the briefing.
The committee will award foreigners who have made outstanding contributions to Nanjing’s public diplomacy cause in 5 categories, including Teenagers Friendly Ambassador Award, Best Cultural Ambassador Award, Best Social Welfare Ambassador Award, Best Friendly Exchange Award and Best Business Elite Award.
1. Teenagers Friendly Ambassador Award: to foreigners who promote exchanges and cooperation between Chinese and foreign youth with remarkable results.
2. Best Cultural Ambassador Award: to foreigners who are spontaneously and selflessly engaged in the international communication of Nanjing and made international friendship.
3. Best Social Welfare Ambassador Award: to foreigners who live and work in Nanjing, love the city, actively advocate Nanjing and promote Chinese and foreign culture.
4. Best Friendly Exchange Award: to foreigners who actively promote China's exchanges with foreign countries with outstanding contributions.
5. Best Business Elite Award: to foreign entrepreneurs or high-level managers, whose management or operation work has a extensive impact on the economic and social development of Nanjing.
The application for the 2019 Parasol Tree Award will end on October 25. The results will be announced at the annual meeting of NPDA in mid-December.
