Wu Zhenglong, governor of Jiangsu, met on Saturday in Nanjing with Tang Ying-yen, President of the Hong Kong Jiangsu General Chamber of Commerce. Tang is also a member of Standing Committee of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.
On behalf of the provincial party committee and the provincial government, Wu Zhenglong expressed his welcome to the delegation of the Hong Kong Jiangsu General Chamber of Commerce, and expressed his gratitude to the members of the delegation for their long-term contribution to the development of their hometown. He also passed on the greetings from Lou Qinjian, secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee.
The governor said since its establishment, the Hong Kong Jiangsu General Chamber of Commerce with President Tang Ying-yen taking the leadership role has united and led Hong Kong compatriots to adhere to the principle of "one country, two systems" by guarding the rule of law and social stability in Hong Kong, and supporting the Chief Executive to lead the SAR Government in administering the government in accordance with the law so as to safeguard the prosperity, make positive contributions to the stability of Hong Kong and promote the exchanges and cooperation between Jiangsu and Hong Kong.
He hoped that the Hong Kong Jiangsu General Chamber of Commerce will continue to promote the successful implementation of Hong Kong's "one country, two systems" and make new contributions.
Wu said that Jiangsu strongly supports Hong Kong's prosperity and stability and is willing to share new opportunities for high-quality development with Hong Kong compatriots and jointly create a better future.
Tang Ying-yen said that the Hong Kong Jiangsu General Chamber of Commerce firmly supports the central government's decision-making and deployment and will unite to gather the positive energy of patriotism and love of Hong Kong, and safeguard national sovereignty, security, unity and Hong Kong's prosperity and stability.
Over the past 40 years of reform and opening up, Hong Kong and Jiangsu have achieved mutually beneficial cooperation covering various fields, Tang said, adding that the Hong Kong Jiangsu General Chamber of Commerce will give full play to its advantages and seize the opportunity of the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta to promote exchanges and cooperation between the two regions to a new level.
