East China’s Jiangsu Province has launched its first connected vehicle public test road project in Suzhou.
A traffic intersection in Suzhou Nano City looks different from a normal intersection. It is equipped with a lot of "black technology" applications.
The white column, which is nearly 30 meters high, is a 5G signal base station. One such base station can cover a radius of 200 to 300 meters. With this as the center, 14 such base stations are equipped within a range of 2.2 square kilometers. Realizing the full coverage of 5G signals, this area has become the first connected vehicle public test road project in Jiangsu.
The 5G signal is only the basic condition for intelligent driving. The intersection is also equipped with an upgraded version of the monitoring probe. With the advantage of low latency and high speed of the 5G network, the real-time road condition can be relayed to the nearby vehicles through the road measuring small box at the earliest time.
The new intelligent signal control system also adjusts the traffic time according to the road traffic to ensure smooth road traffic.
The total test road mileage of the Suzhou Industrial Park Connected Vehicle Demonstration Zone spans 7.26 kilometers with 15 intersections.
The system, which has measured up to the world’s advanced level, can realize intelligent networked vehicle testing in complex environments to meet the multi-scenario testing needs of different enterprises.
