National youth opera competition started in Zhangjiagang, East China's Jiangsu province on July 18 and will run to July 21.
Named "Little Plum", the event pays tribute to the Plum Performance Award, China's highest ranking for opera performers.
The competition attracted more than 500 youth performers to stage 51 opera performances, covering more than 20 varieties of operas including Kunqu Opera, Peking Opera, Yueju Opera and also fairytales.
