Government departments in Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai have signed cooperative agreements recently to explore new modes for integrated Yangtze River Delta development.
South Suzhou's Wujiang district in Jiangsu province, Northeast Jiaxing's Jiashan county in Zhejiang province and West Shanghai's Qingpu district will be jointly built into a demonstration zone for ecological green development in the Yangtze River Delta region.
Relying on the Rapid Testing Laboratory and the circuit workstations of Suzhou Municipal Procuratorate, the prosecutors of Jiangsu, Shanghai and Zhejiang inspected Shangta Town of Shanghai, Fenhu Hydrological Station of Wujiang, Xiaoyaogang River in Jiashan County of Zhejiang Province to sample the water quality along the Taipu River. In a tributary of Xiaoyaogang River, the staff noticed smelly water in the river. The test shows there were higher concentration of ammonia nitrogen, total phosphorus, COD and heavy metals in the water.
The Taipu River flows through 15 townships in Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai with the central area at the intersection of three provincial-level regions. According to the agreement, the three regions will establish a comprehensive cooperation mechanism, create a new model of joint management, and form a strong synergy to crack down on crimes that destroy ecology and environment across the regions so as to reverse the situation in the past when the procuratorial organs in the three regions were responsible for one section of the river, making it impossible to deal with violations of law in the sections out of their reach.
The civil air defense departments in Qingpu of Shanghai, Wujiang of Suzhou, Jiashan of Zhejiang held a meeting recently on the coordination of civil air defense across the region.
According to the agreement, the three places will establish an integrated coordination and liaison mechanism to gradually optimize the interconnection and intercommunication of the civil air defense command and communication network. Each year, no less than one mobile command post will be organized to conduct joint exercises across the region to form a regionally integrated civil air defense.
Authorities from Shanghai and its three neighboring provinces of Zhejiang, Jiangsu and Anhui agreed last June on a three-year action plan for the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta and nearly a dozen collaborative projects to increase the region's competitiveness on a global scale.
The agreements, signed at the 14th symposium of the main leadership of the Yangtze River Delta, indicated that by 2020, the region aims to become a national demonstration zone for new development concepts, a world-class urban center and an Asia-Pacific gateway for global resource allocation.
