NANJING - East China's Jiangsu province has constructed and renovated more than 2,000 public toilets since 2018, the provincial housing and urban-rural development department said Tuesday.

The new and renovated toilets, which have already been put into operation, are equipped with advanced technologies and more auxiliary facilities for the convenience of users.

Many are barrier-free toilets and also have children and baby changing facilities, according to the department. Intelligent devices are employed to monitor water consumption and visitors flow for better management.

China launched the toilet revolution in 2015 to increase the number and sanitation of toilets at tourist sites. The campaign has been expanded to improve public toilets in cities and build better toilets in rural areas.
