The Root-seeking Summer Camp in China (Suzhou Camp) kicked off in Suzhou Foreign Language School on June 24. A group of 107 overseas Chinese teenagers from countries like the United States, Germany, Canada, and Spain will stay in Suzhou for 10 days to learn more about China’s profound history and culture and see its rapid development with their own eyes.
The summer camp is a cultural program sponsored by All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese and offers a variety of activities concerning Chinese language and culture such as calligraphy, embroidery, traditional music and martial arts. It is aimed at introducing traditional culture to young overseas Chinese, arousing their interest in learning Chinese, and encouraging them to keep in touch with their cultural origins and be envoys of friendship between Chinese people and people in the world at large.
