A roadshow exclusively for medical projects and talents concluded at Suzhou Life and Health Town in Suzhou New District, eastern China's Suzhou province, on June 26.
The event attracted 14 teams with high-end medical projects as well as 30 investment institutions.
Li Teng from Tsinghua University won the first prize with his microorganism-based molecular and materials innovation platform and will receive financial support of up to 2 million yuan ($290,000) from the local government.
In recent years, Suzhou New District has focused on innovation, technological research and development, and talent cultivation.
The district places particular importance on the development of medical devices and has established two industrial carriers: Medical Device Industry Park and Suzhou Life and Health Town.
To date, Suzhou New District has housed more than 300 medical device related companies with an annual output growth rate of 20 percent.
The district has established 49 funds which have financed more than 400 projects and helped roughly 40 high-tech businesses in the district go public on the Shanghai and Shenzhen Stock Exchanges.
