Recently, a fashion show was held in Soochow University to display the costumes of countries along the Belt and Road.
During the event, graduate students from College of Textile and Clothing Engineering, School of Chinese Language and Literature, and Medical College’s School of Public Health modeled in different Chinese traditional costumes worn in the Tang, Song, Ming and Qing dynasties and the Minguo (the Republic of China) era. Then 35 international students from 12 countries along the Belt and Road routes including Pakistan, Russia and Italy displayed their national costumes.
“It’s the first time that I have shown the national costume of my country on the catwalk. What an amazing experience!” Bouha from Mauritania said after the show, adding that he would be happy to do his bit for the Belt and Road Initiative after he returns home.
