Construction on three railways in north Jiangsu is in full swing as construction workers are racing against time for the scheduled completion of the projects.
Workers constructing the Lianyungang super-large railway bridge of the Lianyungang-Xuzhou high-speed railway were seen hoisting the first steel box girder onto a portal pier. The girder weighs 124 tons and measures 24 meters long.
Wang Yiwen, a project manager
In terms of difficulty, the most important thing in the hoisting process is safety, because the model of the crawler crane is relatively large, the weight of the steel box beam is relatively heavy, and it crosses the railway line.
Ten steel box girders will be hoisted over the bridge by the end of June.
A super-large box girder was hoisted onto a bridge pier Thursday morning, heralding the success of the last box girder being hoisted onto the piers of the railway connecting Lianyungang, Huai’an, Yangzhou and Zhenjiang. It also marked the completion of the box girder hoisting in the Yangzhou section of the railway.
Zhang Guodong, a project manager
The hoisting of the entire frame beam lasted for about three hours, from the positioning of the beam to the falling of the beam.
Track-laying at the Xuzhou East Station of the Xuzhou-Suqian-Huai’an-Yancheng railway got underway on Thursday. 13 tracks will be laid over a length of 11.7 km at the station. Construction on the station building also got started on Thursday.
Tian Fuxiang, a railway official in charge of engineering
The track-laying will be completed on schedule on July 10 to ensure that the railway will open to traffic on December 28.
