Universities in Jiangsu Province have delivered a new level of personalization and innovation for the usually unimpressive souvenirs presented to graduates.

Each graduate from Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics received an exclusive seal, with the university’s emblem on the front, motto on the side, and student’s name at the bottom.

Zhang Xiaoyan, a director from the university, said it’s hoped that every graduate can make achievement in their career and bring glory back to the alma mater.

At the graduation ceremony on July 19, the Nanjing University of Finance and Economics Alumni Association presented a copper badge with a red and blue ribbon to each graduate. Shen Lin, a graduate of the university’s School of International Business and Economics, said the badge reminds her the arrival of time to say good-bye to the university and it will also carry her memories about the university forever.

Graduates of the Agricultural College of Yangzhou University all received a small linen bag which has the Chinese character Nong, meaning agriculture or farmer, outside and the season's wheat inside. Calling the souvenir “seeds bag,” Zhu Bo, a graduate, said seed means the end of a journey as well as a new starting point.

China Pharmaceutical University was also innovative in giving gifts to graduates on June 20, installing a voice recording booth that students can leave their graduation message about anything, such as their friendship or wishes for the university and teachers.

Nanjing Xiaozhuang University saw the graduation of 4,747 Chinese students as well as 52 foreign students from Kazakhstan, Indonesia, Vietnam, Uganda and other countries. The gift, a report entitled "My University Time," showed the footprints of students, such as the data about library visits or food consumed in the university canteen.

On the morning of June 20, each of 4,166 graduates from the Nanjing Normal University (Xianlin Campus) received a bookmark printed with the university motto and buildings. Ling Ruoyu, a graduate of the university’s Business School, said the bookmark shows the most beautiful and famous buildings in the university. “I will definitely keep this bookmark and I will often go back to my alma mater," said Ling.
